Jeep® and Mopar Unveil Six New Vehicles for the 46th Annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari

[[posterous-content:pid___0]] Jeep® and Mopar are ready for a week of wheeling in Moab.

The brands have created six new vehicles – all featuring a host of Jeep Authentic Parts and Accessories – for the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. Now in its 46th year and taking place March 31 – April 8, the Easter Jeep Safari will be attended by thousands of die-hard off-road enthusiasts looking to enjoy a week of wheeling on some of the country’s most renowned and challenging trails. Mopar also announced the creation of an off-road division that will create Jeep Authentic Parts and Accessories.

“We’re delighted to showcase six new vehicles to our loyal Jeep fans at this year’s Moab Easter Jeep Safari,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “The Jeep Safari has long been a great way for Jeep to connect with its core audience. We look forward to spending the week demonstrating our latest potential production and customization ideas and gathering instant feedback from the most knowledgeable 4x4 enthusiasts in the world.”

To create these new vehicles, Jeep teamed with Mopar, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and offers more than 1,000 accessories and performance parts for Jeep vehicles.

“Mopar is tapping into a growing trend among extreme Jeep enthusiasts who want even more power and capability on the trail,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “This year, Mopar is pushing the envelope in this arena by offering our customers new Pro 60 portal axles and a new HEMI conversion kit, which we will showcase in these new vehicles. In addition, to further maximize our presence in the off-road market, we are creating a Mopar Off-Road division to develop Jeep Authentic Parts and Accessories.”

Since 2002, Jeep and Mopar have teamed to create more than 30 unique concept vehicles for enthusiasts who attend the popular Easter Jeep Safari.

The Jeep® Brand Partners With the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy

The Jeep® brand has partnered up with the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy (JRLA), an open enrollment public charter high school in Detroit, to develop a multi phased development program to expose students to programs and events designed to enrich and develop their educational path.

Elements of the partnership include a mentoring program between Jeep brand employees and students, field trips to several Chrysler Group facilities, including the Jefferson North Assembly Plant and the Jeep Design Studio, development of a marketing project and sponsorship of the academy’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams.

“The Jeep brand is honored to partner with the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy and build a relationship within our community. This program is an authentic, hands-on approach that will fuel leadership, provide educational empowerment and develop life skills for the students,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “With this program, we hope to help students reach their fullest potential.”

“A philanthropic project of this nature requires support from the entire community, and it is a privilege to have the Jeep brand join our team,” said Jalen Rose, JRLA Founder. “We will work together to have a positive influence on our future leaders.”

The program kicked off in February and will continue for the next seven months. The Jeep brand also will award $100,000 in college scholarships to the first graduating class of the academy.

Jeep Brand Mentorship Program
Focusing on educational empowerment and the development of leadership skills, Jeep brand employees will partner with select students from the school to participate in a seven-month long mentorship program. Each session will focus on personal improvement skills such as goal setting and career planning.

Participating students also will embark on a series of educational excursions that will include a trip to the Chrysler Group’s Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit and a trip to the company’s World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., where the students will visit the Jeep Design Studio and meet the designers.

In January, students attended the North American International Auto Show Preview, where they snapped photos of the event, Jeep vehicles and their favorite product features. Their task was to develop a photo journal that outlined their favorite Jeep brand vehicles.

Marketing Competition
Select academy students will participate in a marketing competition where they will be given an assignment to compete amongst each other and win an all-expense paid trip for a family of four to a USA Basketball exhibition game in Washington, D.C.

JRLA Basketball Team Sponsorship
The Jeep brand will sponsor the school’s boys’ and girls’ basketball team. The sponsorship will provide funding to support their team fees, uniforms and equipment.

Chrysler Group LLC Launches Diversified Certified Program

Chrysler Group LLC today announced the launch of Diversified Certified, a new program that enables Chrysler Group dealers to certify and sell competitive-make, pre-owned vehicles backed with a Chrysler Group warranty.

The 140 FIAT studios now open in the United States are the first to launch the Diversified Certified program. Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge, and Ram Truck dealers will join the program in about 60 days.

Consumers looking for the security that a certified pre-owned vehicle offers now need only look to Chrysler Group dealerships and FIAT studios for the widest selection and one-stop shopping.

“Today is a new chapter for certified pre-owned vehicles,” said Eric Swanson, Head of Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles at Chrysler Group LLC. “Just because we didn’t build the vehicle, doesn’t mean we won’t back it with a Chrysler Group warranty. Of course, we always want our customers to visit our dealers and purchase a new or certified pre-owned Chrysler Group model, but now we have given them another option to consider.”

All competitive-make pre-owned vehicles will be subjected to a thorough certification process and come with a 5-Year/60,000-Mile Maximum Care (full mechanical) Warranty from original in-service date, as well as Certified Pre-Owned program benefits such as towing, roadside assistance and more.

The timing is perfect for this Diversified Certified program, said dealer Gary Brown, of Brown’s FIAT and Brown’s Jeep Chrysler Dodge, both in Patchogue, N.Y. With Chrysler Group sales up 26 percent in 2011, and up 42 percent so far this year, “we have never seen so many conquest opportunities,” Brown said.

“Diversified Certified will give our used car team a great opportunity to bolster and sell our pre-owned inventory,” Brown said. “We are really excited about it.”

Vehicles eligible for the Diversified Certified program will have less than 48,000 miles on the odometer and will be a 2008 model or newer.
