The curb has never looked so good. Take a look at Varvatos Chrysler 300 Chalk Art.

Varvatoschalk

A 3-D image of a Chrysler 300 on a sidewalk in New York City is giving new meaning to “curb appeal.”

The 3-D Varvatos Chalk Art tribute honors the new collaboration between the Chrysler brand and designer John Varvatos. The art is located outside of his Soho neighborhood studio in Manhattan.

John Varvatos, a Detroit native, is best known for fusing his love of fashion and music in his clothing. His sleek designs will be found in two new Chrysler 300 sedans that will be released early next year.

Varvatos recently teamed up with the Chrysler brand to design the interior and exterior of the 2013 Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Limited and Luxury Edition sedans. The vehicles made their debut during New York’s Fashion Week (Sept. 6 -13).

In the days before the event, 3-D chalk artist Tracy Lee Stum brought her
Varvatos Chalk Art tribute to life on the sidewalk. Stum is one of the world’s foremost interactive 3-D street painters. Her mind-blowing 3-D images have won her countless awards and commissions, and amazed people around the world.

The Varvatos artwork already has garnered lots of attention. Pedestrians are snapping pictures of the creation and posing alongside the work of art.

The Dodge Dart: A compact car with some wiggle room!

Bjkb
"I don't design cars I don't fit into."

I bet for most designers in the auto industry, that's not a bold statement.

But for 6'7" Chrysler Group Head of Interior Design Klaus Busse (above, in the back seat of a 2013 Dodge Dart) that's saying something.

The 2013 Dodge Dart has more of a "design package," Busse said. That design package, which means using multiple teams within Chrysler Group to look at the entire interior experience for owners, is the result of a close working relationship between the interior and exterior design, engineering and program teams for each vehicle.

It's the true team approach that resulted in many features in the Dodge Dart that are uncommon in most compact cars. Below is a quick look at one of the more noticeable features of the new Dart: the interior of a mid-size sedan in a compact car.

The comparisons are just a selection based on data from each automaker’s website. So, we're not answering our headline question with a yes, but let's just say, the Dart is darn roomy.

Chrysler and fashion designer John Varvatos team up for special edition 300 sedans

2013-chrysler-300c-john-var

Chrysler and John Varvatos, two award-winning entities with strong ties to the city of Detroit, have teamed up to create a pair of bespoke luxury sedans that showcase what can happen when the automotive world meets the fashion industry. The 2013 Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition and Luxury Edition will both bring a new level of exclusivity to this stylish, full-size sedan.

Varvatos' self-named menswear fashion brand, John Varvatos, has a raw industrial look, but the designer is also heavily infused with the rock 'n' roll scene from his early interest in fashion to his involvement with the VH1 Save the Music Foundation where he is a board member. This mix of industry and rock 'n' roll can easily be seen in the new 300C models.

Each car will get a slightly different look and feel with the 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition coming in an exclusive Phantom Black tri-coat paint job as the basis of the car's dark and sinister appearance. All of the 300's regular bright chrome trim has been replaced by dark titanium accents (on the grille surround, daylight opening trim and the dual exhaust outlets) or black chrome on the front grille. Dark 20-inch, multi-spoke wheels and smoked LED taillight lenses finish off the eye-catching styling, and even Chrysler's signature wing badge has been darkened to match the rest of the exterior. The 300C Luxury Edition gets slightly different look with a platinum chrome mesh grille and polished wheels.

The 300C's fashion makeover gets even more intense inside. Looking like it came right off a John Varvatos runway, the Limited Edition gets features like the pewter metallic leather seats with exclusive Diesel Gray and black stitching to match one of Varvatos' leather jackets. Also, the instrument panel clock and gauge cluster has been redesigned to match the brand's watch design including what should be a stunning pearlescent white face with black bezels. The Luxury Edition's cabin steps things up even more with two color options for the Nappa leather seats and hand-sanded, matte-finished Natural Pore Mocha real wood accents. Both cars come with Chrylser's 8.4-inch UConnect system with a distinct "John Varvatos" screen display.

Chrysler has yet to announce the pricing or availability for either of these models, but it did say that the Limited Edition would in fact be produced in limited numbers.

Despite carrying the 300C name, the Limited Edition and Luxury Edition versions of this car will be available with both V6 and V8 engines as well as optional all-wheel drive. Up until this car, the 300C nameplate was used solely to distinguish cars equipped with the Hemi V8.

Chrysler Town & Country, a back to school necessity!

2012_tnc_overview_1920-1

A new school year is upon us once again. For some kids that might not come as good news. For others, the promise of brand-new school supplies—backpacks, notebooks, pencil boxes—makes this one of the most exciting times of year. But why let the kids have all the fun? A new Chrysler Town & Country, when you look at it right (i.e., carpooling), could be considered the greatest school supply of all.

With room for seven and terrific gas mileage (to the tune of EPA estimated 25 highway mpg), you can afford to take half the neighborhood to school. Well, that depends on the size of your neighborhood, of course. But no matter how many kids you pick up along the way, surely their parents will reciprocate the favor somewhere down the road. This is how it works with neighbors—you look out for one another while working together toward the common good.

At Chrysler, we like to think we’re working toward that same common good. Mostly we do that by making vehicle safety a top priority. We also do it by sponsoring initiatives such as Drive for the Kids, a program that, since its inception in 1993, has helped raised nearly $4.5 million for worthy school programs all across the country.
